Repeat
Prescriptions
Those patients on
regular prescriptions for chronic conditions are usually entered into
our Repeat Prescription programme, whereby repeat prescriptions can
be ordered and collected without seeing the doctor.
Each time you receive
a prescription there will be an accompanying sheet listing all repeat
prescriptions. When any of these are next needed, ticking the required
and delivering/posting the form to the Surgery will generate a prescription.
This takes 48 hours in view of the high volume of work.
If you require the
prescription returning to you, please enclose a SAE. Several of the
local chemists will either deliver your prescription to or collect
prescriptions from the Medical Centre or both. You must indicate
to us which chemist you would like your prescription to go to if you
do not wish to collect if from the Surgery.
Some chemists operate
a free delivery service of prescribed drugs to your home: this is an
arrangement usually made between you and your chemist.
On the bottom of
your printed list of drugs you will find a "Review Date".
This is a date around which your doctor will want to see you to review
your medication/health/progress etc...
We cannot take
requests for repeat prescriptions over the phone - this can, in practice,
lead to mistakes that may be harmful.
Dispensing
We have a large
Dispensary at the Medical Centre from where we can dispense medicines
to patients "living more than one mile from a Dispensing Chemist"
(NHS rules, not ours).
As well as our patient
in the Eastern end of the practice - Tangmere, Boxgrove, Oving etc...
- a number of patients from outlying villages who previously attended
Westgate are now eligable to have their prescriptions dispensed by us.
This will include residents of Hunston, Merston, Runcton, Bosham etc...
Please ask at Reception or the Dispensary for details.
